Real Stories, Real Impact: How AIU Students Are Changing the World
Every student has a story to share owing to their unique learning journey and when that story is fueled by purpose, it can change the world.Â
Atlantic International University (AIU) have always believed that education is more than the pursuit of knowledge – it is the foundation for transformation. It begins with a spark – a desire to understand, to solve, to change. Over time each student identifies the possibility and turns it into – action, purpose, and global progress. Their journeys are not just AIU student success stories – they are testimonies to what happens when academic freedom meets a higher calling.
Across continents and disciplines – AIU graduates are doing more than earning degrees. They are rewriting history with what is possible in their communities and on the world stage. These stories are not isolated achievements – but only pieces from a big chunk of change driven by individuals.
Dr. Kanbiro: Building a Future Rooted in Research and Economic Freedom
Dr. Kanbiro for instance is a shining example of where determination and vision can lead. As a PhD graduate in Business Administration with a specialization in Project Management and Sustainable Development – he embodies AIU’s mission to empower learners beyond traditional boundaries. Today, he serves on two international editorial boards, contributing actively to academic discourse while mentoring others as AIU’s Young Researcher and Academic Advisor.

But Dr. Kanbiro’s aspirations don’t stop at accolades. He envisions becoming a professor at AIU where he can strengthen global research networks. He also wants to start a consulting firm to advance economic freedom and sustainable development. His commitment is not just academic – it is deeply personal. In fact, he sees research as a tool to – uplift communities, improve economies, and leave a lasting imprint on future generations.
This year alone, over 50 AIU students published their work, each transforming years of dedication into contributions that matter. These are real AIU student success stories. For Dr. Kanbiro and others like him, AIU isn’t just an academic institution – it’s a launchpad for legacy and where AIU alumni achievements are displayed with pride.
Dr. Lorna Thompson: Redefining Education Across a Nation
AIU exceeds in creating that unique experience for each student – from the world of research to the classroom where in each academic session an extraordinary AIU graduate is transforming his or her life through education. This transition is witnessed as one student, one teacher, and one curriculum at a time. For example, Dr. Lorna Thompson – Jamaica’s National Mathematics Coordinator was recently honored with the Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Service to Education. It is the highest recognition for educators in the country.

But behind the medal is a story of – resilience, vision, and a passion for lifelong learning. Through her studies at AIU – Dr. Thompson discovered the academic freedom and flexibility to reimagine what education could look like in her home country. The result is a restructured national mathematics curriculum with stronger mentorship programs and a renewed culture of excellence among educators across Jamaica.
Her impact is not limited to the academic world. It extends into – communities, homes, and hearts. Her story is a reminder that – when you educate a child, you transform a family. When you empower a teacher, you shift a nation.
Dr. Ricardo Velásquez RamĂrez: Using Law to Unite and Empower
While some shape classrooms, others are reshaping legal systems. Dr. Ricardo Velásquez RamĂrez is one of the most distinguished AIU alumni. His educational achievement with three doctoral degrees is worth mentioning. Apart from the degrees, the expertise he garnered over the years helped him to make constitutional law accessible and relevant for the modern world. This was a remarkable achievement on his part enriching his community. He is the author of the book – Derecho Procesal – Fundamentos y Práctica Procesal Constitucional that can bridge the gap between complex legal theory and real-world applications. This makes it a key resource for – students, scholars, as well as practitioners alike.

With more than 23 years of experience in law and education – Dr. Velásquez’s influence spans Latin America and Europe. His work had a positive impact on Peru. Moreover, the lectures he delivered in Spain and Italy were nothing less than inspirational. His commitment to legal education and democratic justice has enabled the system to make necessary changes. Through every lecture, publication, and conversation – he champions the belief that the law is not a rigid system but a dynamic tool for – unity, equity, and progress. His path is a powerful example of what happens when scholarship meets social responsibility.
Eridania RodrĂguez Peguero: The Pen as a Tool for Cultural Change
While legal systems create frameworks for justice, it is through communication that cultures are shaped and sustained. Eridania RodrĂguez Peguero, another remarkable AIU graduate, discovered this early on. Her award-winning essay for the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Education captured national attention, but it was just the beginning.

Inspired by her studies at AIU – Eridania authored The Importance of Effective Communication: 7 Steps to Achieve Meaningful Learning. Her book challenges – educators, parents, and policymakers to reimagine communication not just as a skill – but as a foundation for teaching values such as – honesty, respect, and justice.
Today, her book is available globally, and her message is clear – meaningful change starts with meaningful dialogue. Through her writing and advocacy – Eridania reminds us that our words hold the power – to educate, to elevate, and to inspire! It is one of those AIU student success stories that will keep inspiring others to explore their full potential.
Triza Tsiga Magreta: Lifting Women, Transforming Africa
Here is another story where the student is making a difference with her education. Across the continent in Malawi – Triza Tsiga Magreta is using her AIU education to lead a movement of a different kind. Focused on women’s empowerment and financial inclusion – Triza’s journey is extraordinary. It started with a modest beginning but reached a place where she received international recognition.

However, what sets her apart isn’t just her accomplishments – it’s her courage to lead without waiting for permission. Through small initiatives and strategic partnerships – Triza is rewriting the future for women across Africa. The objective here is to ensure that they have access not only to financial tools but to leadership opportunities.
She stands as a beacon for those who have been told to wait their turn. Her message? The time is now. Your voice matters. Your dreams are valid.
Dr. Lucila Del Rosario Romero: The Pursuit of Happiness as a Lifelong Mission
Last but never least, we turn to Dr. Lucila Del Rosario Romero, whose journey at AIU became a turning point toward deeper self-awareness and public impact. Her book, C’Happiness: La Llave que Abre Puertas, shares a philosophy many long to hear happiness is not a destination – it’s a decision, a mindset, and a way of being.

She started as a student in AIU then became a mentor and now, she is a published author, Dr. Lucila uses her voice to empower others to live with purpose, gratitude, and self-love. Her transformation is revolutionary. However, it began with a simple idea and the courage to pursue it. She proudly mentions that it was through – AIU’s flexible and human-centric learning model that – she could rediscover herself as a leader in self-awareness journey. Currently, she is teaching and guiding others to find their own keys to happiness and fulfilment.
Your Story Starts Here

They demonstrate what is possible when education is – personal, purposeful, and without borders. AIU believes in empowering self-motivated learners with purposeful learning so that they can align their studies with their life’s purpose. This is possible in AIU with the help of curriculum builder tool and other AI tools, mini courses etc. at the student’s disposal.Â
So, the question is no longer – can one person make a difference?
The question is – What will you do with your voice, your vision, your education?
