Introduction

Welcome to the six principles of persuasion. We will use the quick videos created by the marketing agency Ogilvy in order to help illustrate each of the six principles of the science of persuasion. These videos were created by Ogilvy when opening a contest to look for the "world's greatest salesperson," and they each contain a particular message. However, we are going to link each message to the six principles of persuasion and analyze them together. The six principles of persuasion are:

  • Scarcity
  • Authority
  • Consistency
  • Liking
  • Consensus
