MBA 402 Leading through Change (3 Credits)
The aim of this course is to introduce concepts and best practice concerning leadership and change management. Particular emphasis will be given to the transactional and transformational skills required for leaders to manage strategic change. The course will examine, through real life case studies, which have been heavily disguised, boardroom dynamics, strategic re-structuring and how to combat burnout in senior executives who have been damaged by change processes. Equally, the course will explore through questionnaire and other feedback instruments, the topics of vision, managing sensitive interfaces and the resolution of disputes in circumstances of damaging political interactions. This course addresses the issues faced by managers who wish to turn opportunity into viable organizations that create value, and empowers students to develop their own approaches, guidelines, and skills for being entrepreneurial managers.
The following are acceptable topics for this course:
- Identifying potentially valuable opportunities.
- Obtaining the resources necessary to create an entrepreneurial organization.
- Managing the entrepreneurial organization once it has been established.
- Creating value for the organization's stakeholders.
