BSA 300 Cooperative Education in Business
Business practicum: internship with approved business or governmental agency. Open only to students who meet requirements of internship program. Internship credit may not be applied to fulfill specific course requirements or to credits required for graduation.
Co-operative Education formally integrates a student's academic studies with relevant and productive paid work experience with employers in business, industry and government. Employers benefit from having access to a year-round supply of well-trained and highly motivated student employees for short-term projects. Co-op students gain skills and experience, which prepare them for the future job market and give them improved employment opportunities upon graduation.
Three groups co-operate in this plan: the college, the students and the employer
Employers provide challenging positions in which students are able to develop professional competence and gain experience working with others. The employer becomes a co-educator with the opportunity to share in the development of well-rounded employees and leaders of the future. By hiring students, the employer becomes part of the educational process, and helps shape the business professionals of tomorrow.
It is only through the support of employers that Co-operative Education works.
