Your research may take both applied and theoretical approaches and address the current challenges that exist regarding bioethics in the fields of Healthcare, Science & Engineering, Business & Economics, Government & Social Policy, and Social Systems.
Your projects will require you to examine ethical dilemmas that are occurring in your profession or the community to which you belong, apply an interdisciplinary approach to finding ethical solutions for your dilemma, and prepare recommendations based on evidence to support your recommendations. The culmination of your research will be the final capstone or thesis-style project, which you will present as a summary of your ethical reasoning, competence in conducting research, and responsible leadership.
Publication – Within AIU’s Master of Bioethics program, students may publish student-authored works to solidify their academic and professional resume. Students are encouraged to submit written works such as articles, case studies, policy briefs, reflective essays, and interdisciplinary studies related to key bioethical topics in health care, technology, business, and society as part of AIU’s andragogical distance learning model. AIU provides tools (academic platforms, institutional journals, conferences) for students to display their written works and contribute ethically to the ongoing global discussion on bioethics and bioethical issues through either working with established and/or interdisciplinary groups or developing new collaborative research endeavors.
The Master’s Thesis Defense for Bioethics at Atlantic International University (AIU) is the final accomplishment for the Master’s program student in the field of Bioethics. The student will demonstrate the knowledge of interdisciplinary bioethics and have the skills necessary to conduct independent scholarly research. The Master’s Thesis Defense will be conducted at AIU under the Andragogy and Distance Learning program. The thesis defense will allow the students to present their thesis, defend the thesis, and reflect upon the thesis critically in front of an Academic Review Committee.
