This is in fact the highest national recognition for educators. She was among 79 exemplary educators selected to receive this award in the 2023 and 2024 cohorts, with 39 honorees from 2023 and 40 from 2024.

The biennial awards ceremony is a reminder to celebrate the contributions of educators who have shaped brilliant minds and the nation’s educational landscape as a whole. Instituted in 2005, this honors educators with a minimum of 15 years of distinguished service, who demonstrate exceptional commitment, creativity, and a passion for community development through education – in other words who made a difference. Recipients of this award are selected through a rigorous process led by a committee of officials from the education sector. The selection is made based on merit and clearly defined criteria.
