This research investigates the pervasive impact of digital technology on adolescents’ development and psychological wellbeing. With the widespread use of smartphones, internet access, and social media platforms, adolescents’ social, cognitive, and emotional characteristics are evolving rapidly. The study explores the dual nature of technology’s influence—highlighting benefits like improved access to information, enhanced communication skills, and opportunities for social interaction. Conversely, it examines challenges such as increased risk of mental health issues, social isolation, and digital addiction. Utilizing the Uses and Gratifications theory, the research aims to understand adolescents’ motivations for technology use and its effects on their growth. Findings will inform policymakers, educators, and parents on harnessing digital tools for positive development while mitigating risks associated with excessive or inappropriate use.
