This thesis investigates the pivotal role of Financial Technology (FinTech) driven by Information Systems Engineering practices in advancing financial inclusion in Nigeria. Focusing on underbanked and unbanked populations, it explores how innovative solutions such as mobile banking, blockchain, AI, and big data can bridge existing gaps in financial access. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining literature reviews, stakeholder surveys, and successful case studies from other African countries, notably Kenya’s M-Pesa. Key challenges identified include regulatory hurdles, technological infrastructure deficits, and low digital literacy. The research leverages the Technology Acceptance Model to analyze user acceptance factors. Ultimately, it provides strategic recommendations for policymakers, financial institutions, and technology providers to enhance collaboration, infrastructure, and policies that enable scalable financial inclusion initiatives.
