Final Thesis

This research examines the persistent challenge of expensive justice processes in Tigania East, Meru County, Kenya. Over decades, residents have faced significant barriers due to distant court locations, poor road networks, limited transport options, and high legal fees. The study traces the evolution of the judicial system from independence in 1963, emphasizing the lack of accessible judicial infrastructure in the region. It explores how these costs impact social, economic, and political facets of residents’ lives, leading to delayed justice and inequalities. Recommendations include establishing local courts, improving transportation, and adopting cost-effective dispute resolution mechanisms. The findings aim to inform policymakers, judicial authorities, and local communities on creating equitable access to justice and reducing systemic expenses.
