The Master of French Literature program offers courses in three major areas of literary analysis: Literary Inquiry (analysis of text, its historical context, and critical perspectives); Study of French Literature and Francophone (in French-speaking countries) Literature; and Reading French Literature from different perspectives (for example, thematically, stylistically, and theoretically). Course content of postgraduate French literature will provide an overview of the major literary movements through history, including all of the major authors, plus other areas of study such as how to interpret the written text in a variety of ways. In the Master of French Literature Program the thesis defence is the most important academic accomplishment of the master’s program and the official occasion for students to present their original research and defend their work to an academic committee.
