Students in our Bachelor’s degree program in Banking and Finance will study an integrated core of courses and topics that are important for functioning in a finance-oriented career. The fully-integrated curriculum includes core content related to the nature of financial accounting, macroeconomics, microeconomics, corporate finance, investment analysis, financial markets and institutions, risk management, and international finance sectors of the financial landscape. Specialized subjects for students to discuss and explore include financial modelling, derivatives, portfolio management, and financial services operational and banking-and-financial activities. Initially, students will acquire a broad understanding of banking and finance theories and practical applications in banking and financial services sectors to successfully pursue various roles in the financial marketplace.
At AIU, orientation courses within the Bachelor’s in Banking and Finance program are comprehensively created to give students a solid foundation of learning in key areas of study. The courses are introductory, and are aimed primarily at undergraduate degree seeking students who are studying banking studies and are intended to provide the students knowledge and experience within the realms of principles of financial management degree and banking operations and decisions around decisions of financial strategy. What is unique and non-repeating about our orientation courses is that students who take these orientation courses are given an idea of the extent and scope of their banking and finance major and whose outcome should provide the student a framework for succeeding within their academic journey and subsequent career with finance.
Students enrolled in a BSc in Banking and Finance at AIU can engage in stimulating projects which reflect our rigorous finance degree standards. The projects focus on research using real-world banking issues surrounding the study of financial institutions. Students use already published literature to build on ideas and real-world concerns while working with experienced faculty and best available resources. Our research investigates risk management practices, identifying risk investment trends, compliance with regulations, and innovations in financial technology. The thesis defense for the Bachelor of Banking & Finance program at AIU is the final step of students’ significant academic process demonstrating their analytical understanding of financial institutions, the principles of business administration, and the behavior of financial markets. The students present the results of their research, showcasing the students’ ability to analyse, interpret data accurately and act on that information to produce a source of justification.
The students were guided by a leading faculty member and having provided an explicit research plan to follow, were able to provide some thought provoking topics varying from banking regulations to market investment strategies.
