What are the Research Projects for Associate of Interior Design ?

Students in the Associate of Interior Design program at AIU engage in research projects that enable them to utilize design theory to evaluate and apply to practical settings. The Career Center of Atlantic International University (AIU) helps Students in the Associate in Interior Design program make a smooth transition from education to employment by bridging their education with their career goals through career counseling and portfolio construction and resume preparation and interview preparation and providing insight into global design markets. While providing individual support to each student and meeting their goals, the Career Center is integrated into the andragogy-based distance learning environment of AIU, which gives the learner the confidence to successfully enter the workforce in entry-level positions in both freelance practice and advanced degrees in interior design and related fields.

Job Description

AIU’s Associate Degree of Interior Design Program students can apply their hands-on, skills-based educational background in many areas including but not limited to Interior Design Assistant, Junior Interior Designer, Space Planning Assistant, Residential Design Consultant, Furniture/Lighting Design Assistant, Visual Merchandising Assistant, Showroom/Studio Coordinator, Interior Styling Assistant. AIU has designed an “andragogy” driven distance learning model that promotes students’ creative process through their research, prepares students to enter into the various fields of design, as well as for their advancement within the interior design discipline.

The school has the intention to accept diverse students into their program by encouraging and subsequently reviewing application materials. To also reinforce this inclusive approach to education, AIU encourages students who may have completed high school (or its equivalent), possess a design-related passion and submit basic application materials (transcripts, letter of intent, identification), will be considered candidates based upon their submitted application materials. Also, based upon the student’s intentions, a design interest or a preliminary design interest portfolio may be submitted as part of their applications, students may be invited to meet with a designer in person to discuss their design-related aspirations on an interim basis prior to being formally accepted. AIU’s admission process is flexible which will allow creative, lifelong learners to develop confidence in their pursuit of interior design.
