School of Science
and Engineering

The doctoral program in Sustainable Materials Science provides students with the research and analytical tools necessary to develop an interdisciplinary approach to the fundamentals of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. It also provides the theoretical and experimental knowledge and skills necessary to identify, analyze and solve problems in sustainable materials science and engineering.

Graduates will be able to participate in the organization and linkage of projects, both inter-institutional and in the industrial sector; they will also collaborate in the proposal and implementation of public policies and alternative technologies for the use of materials.

Our program does not require each student to study the same subjects and use the same books and other learning materials as others. If you are a purpose-driven individual who wants to elevate your life and make a solid contribution to the world, then this program is for you.

Topics in Sustainable Materials Science

  • Nature of materials
  • Mechanical properties of materials
  • Thermal properties of materials
  • Electrical, magnetic and optical properties of materials
  • Experimental techniques for materials characterization
  • Characterization and physical properties of active fluids
  • Materials for energy production
  • Nanomaterials
  • Soft Matter
