MY EXPERIENCE IN ATLANTIC INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM
I’ve always had the desire to pursue a university degree right from the time I completed my secondary education but there seem to be lots of setbacks right from the very moment I had qualified to join one. My hindrances ranged from lack of finances to other unforeseen factors. Fortunately when I started my accounting courses, I knew that I will one day achieve my dream and it won’t be long to see that come to pass. When I began working, I still had my dream on, and again I was limited with time until the year 2010 when I assured myself, I will have to make time and pursue a bachelors degree. Here I’m now at the verge of completing my program and very soon I will be a proud holder of a Bachelors Degree in Finance – A dream come true
It all began when I popped into one of my client’s office one Saturday afternoon just to say hi and discuss some business proposals, but he was too busy behind his monitor and hardly paid any attention to me, I wondered what was taking much of his concentration. Well, since he is my close friend as well, I went over his desk and saw he was browsing on the AIU webpage and I curiously asked if he was doing some online studies. The smile on his face was enough answer and I immediately recalled my dream to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Without any hesitation, that same day I applied for an online program and thanks to AIU for their timely and prompt feedback mechanism, I received a call that same evening from Madam Nina whom after few minutes of interview, she enrolled me to my program and I was already receiving admission details the following day.
I have had friends and colleagues’ who have done online studies and they have been telling me about their experiences, most of them have endured a lot of difficulties, for instance, difficulties in getting enrolled because of many bureaucracies and payment systems involved, Learning systems and even some don’t make it since they fail to get time to travel to designated examination centers while they are on job. I must say Atlantic International University is quite different, One thing for sure that I appreciate them is they recognize the working individuals and they create a conducive room to adopt them in their system of online studies.
They online system adopted by AIU is quite encouraging, first, my initial courses that I pursued have been recognized and they added credit to my studies, this applied to any other achievement I have had through my education and working environment. AIU then asked us to write essays specifically out of selected books of thought. I must say these books did a lot of brain feeding and broadened my minds sharpening me with tactics that I can always adopt in the society and the economy for problem solving and excellent decision making.
Also AIU gave us the chance to create our own curriculum design. Well, usually when I student enters a classroom, he expect to be spoon-fed in accordance with his tutors program. The opportunity to design my own curriculum was much educative in a way I had to go through what I had learnt before when I was doing my accounting courses, then I established what was needed or actually the requirements to obtain a bachelors degree in finance, synchronizing these two, I came up with the topics that was left for me to fulfill, which would later form the basis of my thesis. Thesis writing then became my real studies and I fruitfully achieved the objective of my online studies…….. Thanks to AIU
