My experience at the AIU was an eye-opener in the academic world. I had already done an on-line degree (M.Sc.) at the University of Liverpool and wanted more then that. Liverpool didn’t have the facilities to work on-line towards a PhD and through some advice of one of the professors I came in contact with the AIU.
Due to the special way the AIU is looking at learning, and being used to the structure of other Universities, it took me a while to get used to this new way. But now I try to do the same with my children and give them the change to learn in an easy and relaxed pattern.
The help I got from Dr Franklin Valcin was of great importance for me and gave me the strength to follow this through till the end. I am, and always will be, grateful for that.
It was not an easy ride in the sense that it took a lot of self discipline to sit down every night and read, research, and write your papers. But if you look back on this time then it was fun to do and I will miss it.
