MY EXPERIENCE AT AIU
I started out my Ph.D. in Chemistry at the National University in Bogota, Colombia, where I approved all the academic credits for the Doctorate program. Then, I moved to the School of Geologist and Geophysics at the University of Oklahoma, USA to finish my thesis dissertation titled “Organic Geochemistry of Llanos basin, Colombia”. However, as very often happens to people with family, professional responsibilities, and an own business related with their education, I never defended my thesis.
Years after, I enrolled at AIU, where I found flexibility, high quality education, and autonomy to reach my goals. Most people would think it is easy to get an online degree, but it was hard work and required dedication. In getting this achievement, I made and sent nine assignments to AIU, all of them supported with the latest of publications (books, scientific articles, personal communications with other researchers and professors, etc.) and using examples based on real data obtained from the projects I have done for petroleum exploration companies. Besides, I also submitted my thesis dissertation to the Academic Department as partial fulfillment to obtain the title of Ph.D. in Chemistry, although I was exsumied by my advisor and the academic department.
By my own experience, AIU and its andragogy and omniology philosophy is the perfect environment to combine work experience and knowledge. So, for people working full time and in demanding of additional education, AIU is the right place to be.
I am very thankful for the scholarship I received from AIU and for the assistance and academic support that my academic advisor Dr. Valcin gave me permanently during my time in the program. I am very proud of the work AIU is doing for adult professional students worldwide.
