I am, Jacob Oyugi, a student who enrolled for post-doctoral study in Entrepreneurship and Business Management in the School of Business and Economics, AIU. My Student ID is UPD67322BEN76427. My journey at AIU started in 2018 through the COVID-19 Pandemic (lock-down period with little hope of survival) up till October 19 2022 when I received communication from Dr. Miriam Garibaldi that, based on a detailed evaluation of my academic records; I had already completed the academic requirements at AIU. This communication was a big surprise to me and I could not belief it since I was still busy writing chapter 5 of the final thesis. As a result of this, I wrote back to tell Dr. Miriam Garibaldi that this was an error because I had not completed my final thesis. The response from Dr. Miriam was a confirmation that the Academic Department even decided to exempt me from the final thesis. This again was hard to believe not until I got communication on Phase IV instructions. This phase was about completing the forms needed to officially graduate and receive my diploma.
Based on the above experience, I must say that I am very happy for having persevered with the course work and gained experience through independent study program and have been able to benefit from a New Age for Distance Learning at AIU. I admire their organization, time management, flexibility, transparency, support system and richness of learning resources. Personal interactions with Dr. Edward Lambert and my Tutors gave me a new way of how supportive I have to be to my students and fellow workmates. I also want to thank all the assessors of the course works for their objective and constructive comments. Personally, I will achieve my dream of self-actualization and my academic growth when I graduate. The biggest challenge I have encountered is payment of tuition, from my personal disposable income, without any financial support. This has affected and continues to affect my progress. However, I am confident that with your support, I will complete and graduate. I am looking forward to continue getting financial support from AIU and also contributing to AIU development.
