EXPERIENCE LETTER
My Name is Helder, and I am here
to talk to you about my experience at AIU. My journey began when a friend who
also belongs to the AIU community came to me and introduced me this opportunity
and to know about the university. He was my colleague at high school where we
study science for many years. I started to work very earlier, which is very
common in Africa. It is like this, because sometimes the government do not have
enough human resources to fulfill the need or because and most of the cases
people do not have conditions to carry on with the studies and they are forced
to sick for a job earlier. Before I join the AIU community I joined local
universities to do my degree but the factor time was not friendly to me… I
couldn´t conciliate the job and the presence at school it was so impossible to
be at the work and at the varsity at the time. So I end up postponing it. But
when this opportunity came to me, I said to myself… this is it… I have to do
it no matter what
So I applied and I was approved
and my advisor told me to begin as soon as possible, which did not happen
because my country´s economy collapsed and it affected the local currency
exchange rate, our currency lost value and we didn´t know where it was leading
us… So I decide to wait until the situation stabilized a little bit… Thankfully
it happened and I decide to move on. Of course I was excited to begin this
amazing experience, I have been in too many VILT trainings before and I thought
it would be similar, I was wrong…
The AIU experience is totally
different, it is self-challenging and self-encouraging process that makes you
open up your mind and discover by yourself the ability you have to manage your
time and this way of living you might not experience if you do not access to
this kind of programs. The traditional way of studying tells us that to learn
something you need a teacher but at AIU I learned that you just need a guide to
help you see the light.
