I am pleased to share my experience with Atlantic International University (AIU), which has been transformative in my academic and professional journey.
My connection to AIU began in 2011 while I was working with the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was there that I first learned about AIU through a former supervisor who inspired me to pursue a Doctorate. This seed of ambition was reignited when I joined the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Tanzania and took on a role coordinating risk assessments and leading the introduction of a new Government-to-Government (G2G) portfolio to the Government of Tanzania high-level officials and some specific sectors.
In my position, I worked with different expertise, e.g. audit firms, implanting partners, prepare quarterly financial reviews, conduct assessment etc. and organized high-level meetings with government officials and prepared presentations that sparked interest among attendees. During one session in Arusha, Tanzania, I was asked if I held a PhD, prompting me to revisit my academic aspirations. I reached out to my former supervisor for guidance, which led me to explore AIU.
My initial interactions with AIU staff were incredibly positive. Admission Advisor Reina was instrumental in guiding me through my inquiries, showcasing the supportive and people-centered approach of the institution. AIU’s unique curriculum offered flexibility that perfectly suited my needs, allowing me to align my studies with my professional responsibilities and my country’s development challenges as my organization focus on development globally.
Throughout my time at AIU, I was consistently inspired by my professors. Their thorough feedback on my thesis motivated me to improve and apply the real-life examples to my work. My supervisors witness my gradually changes as progressed towards completion and had been assigned different assignments including challenged one! In addition, there is a more trust build based on what I do daily. This constructive engagement significantly contributed to my academic growth, culminating in my upcoming graduation.
AIU’s accommodating payment plans were particularly beneficial, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite financial pressures from family obligations, the partial scholarship I received was invaluable, allowing me to focus on my studies without compromising my family’s needs.
The online modality of my PhD program required adaptability, but it equipped me with essential technological skills. This journey has empowered me to become an ambassador for AIU, advocating for the transformative power of education and the importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals as also I have supported my society in protecting our environment.
In conclusion, reaching the PhD level is attainable through commitment and prioritization. I encourage others to join this journey to reduce societal inequalities and invest in education, restoring human dignity in our communities. let’s join the efforts to reduce existing inequalities in our society. Together, we can make a difference.
