A Beacon of Hope and Change
Atlantic International University (AIU) proudly highlights the remarkable journey of Samuel Ssewanyana, a dedicated student from the School of Business and Economics who pursued Bachelors in Business Administration, with a commitment to humanitarian work and environmental sustainability exemplifies the core values of the university.
Humanitarian Initiatives
Samuel recently participated in two significant humanitarian initiatives: the “Compassion for Gaza” campaign and the “Global IT Challenge Competition for People of Determination.” The former aimed to provide relief to war-affected individuals in the Gaza Strip, while the latter focused on promoting the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities. Samuel’s involvement in these events not only showcased his dedication to social impact but also transformed his perspective on philanthropy. He emphasized that anyone can contribute to humanitarian efforts, regardless of their financial status, by volunteering their time and skills.
Reflecting on his experiences, Samuel stated, “Having participated in these events successfully, my narrative towards charity works has changed. Everyone can participate in charity or humanitarian activities; we can all be philanthropists.” His passion for empowering communities, particularly in his home country of Uganda, drives him to share his knowledge and experiences to uplift those affected by poverty and illiteracy.
Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
In addition to his humanitarian efforts, Samuel has also made significant strides in environmental sustainability. Through AIU’s “Go Green Campaigns,” he has gained valuable insights into environmental conservation and has become an active participant in various initiatives aimed at addressing pressing environmental issues. Samuel’s journey began with his registration under the Emirates Foundation Volunteers platform, where he received training and participated in projects like the “Environmental Eyes Initiative,” focusing on critical topics such as air and marine pollution, waste management, and biodiversity.
Samuel’s dedication has not gone unnoticed; he has received multiple certificates of appreciation for his contributions to environmental initiatives. “This marked the beginning of my journey as a volunteer and most importantly an environmental agent,” he shared.
