AIU’s Integral Culture Week 127

November 30, 2021

In order to continue exalting AIU’s Integral Culture we have decided to continue with the initiative to implement and highlight two of the major drivers that stand by our reason of being: Human Rights and the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals.

For the remainder of this week- we will focus on exalting the Twentieth Human Right: Right to Public Assembly. Eleanor Roosevelt was an American political figure- diplomat and activist. She served as the First Lady of the United States from March 4- 1933- to April 12- 1945- during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms in office- making her the longest-serving First Lady of the United States. Roosevelt served as United States Delegate to the United Nations General Assembly from 1945 to 1952. President Harry S. Truman later called her the “First Lady of the World” in tribute to her human rights achievements.

20th Human Right: Freedom of Expression – “At all times- day by day- we have to continue fighting for freedom of religion- freedom of speech- and freedom from want – for these are things that must be gained in peace as well as in war.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
