Excerpt Summary:
The role of education in daily life as well as society is very important and leaves a great on the overall progress of society. Education is the only area which is equally important to each and every person of the society. The role and function of education cannot be over emphasized. Education enhances and develops human abilities- identity- integrity- power and even potential. Until the early twentieth century- education was a privilege for only certain classes of a society. Some countries on the other hand tried to enlighten the general masses by making education a right. In 1948 United Nations Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) provided a human right to education under Article 26. To have a better understanding of the rights to education- laws from other foreign countries implemented the human rights principles for a better understanding to education. Therefore- education should reflect the purpose- function- quantity- quality- access and contents which the human right to education attempts to protect- prohibit- and provide.
