From 2016 to 2019, he served as a principal trainer for the Norwegian Association for Disabled and the Enabling Education Network CIC, which gave him the edge required. Worsening matters, daily hours of energy shortages across the country — stemming from climate-induced problems — often cut his studies short, and made it hard to meet assignment deadlines.
Yet Moono never cracked under the pressure of it all, He persevered through it all and went on to earn his dissertation on inclusive education. It wasn’t only a thorn of academia, but a tribute of his persistence as well as dedication to influence education for whatever great.
Taking His Mission Global
Aubrey Moono’s work extended beyond Zambia’s borders. His dedication to inclusive education leads to international opportunities, sharing his knowledge on a much larger platform.
As a consultant to EENET’s Together For Inclusion (ToFI) project in Ethiopia, he collaborated with teacher trainers and teachers across different institutions, giving them the skills and strategies to develop more inclusive classrooms. He didn’t just teach theories through hands-on training sessions — he demonstrated to educators how to implement the theories in ways that made it possible to effect real change.
Having the opportunity to reach more students and teachers worldwide at a much bigger stage and in a different context also meant that Moono could use the principles of inclusive education he had developed in Zambia and expand them out into the world. It was a reminder that real educational change knows no bounds when it comes to geography — and that it’s a story, and a concept, that can, and should, be shared with the world.
