The Cunene River, a vital but underutilized resource, holds immense potential for transforming the socio-economic landscape of southern Angola. This study aims to develop strategic actions for the river’s sustainable development, focusing on agriculture, industry, tourism, and education. Key objectives include addressing food shortages that have persisted since 1991, reducing dependence on imported foods from Namibia, and creating local employment opportunities. By comparing successful global models, the project will propose empirical approaches to harness river resources effectively. Additionally, the proposal emphasizes community involvement, environmental preservation, and long-term policy formulation to ensure consistent growth. Ultimately, this initiative seeks to turn the Cunene River into a catalyst for regional development, improving the livelihoods of local populations and fostering national prosperity.
