Impact of GIFMIS on Financial Accountability in Ghana Education Service
This study evaluates the effectiveness of GIFMIS in enhancing accountability, transparency, and timely financial reporting within Ghana Education Service. Findings indicate improved revenue collection and data management. However, challenges in implementation persist. Recommendations focus on strengthening system integration and capacity building to realize full benefits of GIFMIS.

This research explores the role of Ghana’s Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) in promoting effective accountability and transparent financial management in the Ghana Education Service. The study analyzes how GIFMIS streamlines revenue collection, improves data accuracy, and facilitates timely reporting. It highlights the system’s contributions to reducing corruption and enhancing budget control. Despite these benefits, the implementation faced hurdles such as limited infrastructure, staff training gaps, and resistance to change. The findings suggest that, with improved training, infrastructure upgrades, and stakeholder engagement, GIFMIS can significantly enhance public financial management. The study underscores the importance of continuous evaluation and capacity development to maximize GIFMIS’s potential for fostering good governance and accountability in Ghana’s education sector.
