New at AIU: The Language Center featuring Rosetta Stone - August-6-2013
This is an enhancement to the University program included for all students who will be able to finish their program while learning a new language at the same time

In today's global world AIU graduates are presented with more opportunity than ever before to work and participate outside their borders and countries. For this reason and as part of AIUs' Mission/Vision (below), we have added the option to learn a Language as part of AIU's core program. All AIU students will have the option to choose from one of 24 languages to learn or further enhance as part of their program. They will be able to earn credits and with sufficient progress earn a Diploma form the AIU Language Center in The School of Languages and Linguistics of the university.

Vision:

The empowerment of the individual towards the convergence of the world through a sustainable educational design based on andragogy and omniology.
The AIU Language Center offerings and requirements are summarized below.

Modalities:

·         Students can select from 24 languages to learn from during their program and will be able to do so through:

o   Pronunciation Exercises

o   Games and Activities

o   Receive a Progress Summary. Advance in Sequence or jump to any level or lesson

·         The AIU Language Center through the School of Languages and Linguistics will be linked to the AIU Virtual Campus via the Student Section. Access will be provided at the end of the end of the 3rd month post enrollment.

For example: If a student enrolls on August 1st, access will be provided on November 1st.

Requirements:

·         Be academically active (Complete Phase one + 6 credits)

·         Be financially active

·         By the end of the third month, the student can start taking the language course

Diploma and Transcript:

·         Each Language has several levels; both English and Spanish have 5 levels each. One credit (1.0) will be earned for each level completed

·         Each level has approximately 20-40 hours of video/audio lessons & learning materials.

·         Credits earned will appear on the AIU transcript.

·         A diploma will be issued from the AIU School of Languages and Linguistics to students who complete 3 or more levels/credits in their chosen language.
